The Elgar Society
6 Charlock Road, Barnards Green, Worcestershire., WR14 3SR
A Message From Our President It is no surprise that the Elgar Society is the largest in the UK devoted to a single composer: not only is his music endlessly fascinating but so is the man himself! Certainly anyone who loves Elgar’s music should join the Elgar Society. Its excellent regular publications keep us fully informed about performances of his music worldwide as well as containing many fascinating articles about the man and his music alongside often previously unpublished photographs. I am hugely honoured to be President of the Society dedicated to this extraordinary composer. Julian Lloyd Webber President of The Elgar Society See more
West Malvern Arts Festival
,
Time to the 2012 Festival: It is finally here! Plans are already well advanced for the staging of the West Malvern Arts Festival sponsored by local charity The Malvern Hills Community Foundation and which is now in its third year. As before, it will be held in the village between the Elim College and the Brewers Arms pub. Like the two previous events there will be the usual mixture of venues, thanks to the kind offers of local residents and other organisations, ranging from gazebos, private garages, garden walls etc, to larger venues such as the Elim College, St James’ Church, West Malvern Primary School, and The Brewers Arms pub garden. Admission to the event is free throughout for both visitors and artists, and as last year we are likely to be hosting perhaps eighty plus artists, some of whom will be new to the Festival, who will be showing and/or selling a wide variety of work ranging from sculpture to jewellery, glassware to calligraphy, besides painters, photography, mixed media, etc. Some artists will again be taking commissions, and all work will be under cover in the event of wet weather. Worcestershire Guild of Contemporary Craft
1 Michael Crescent, Malvern, Worcestershire, WR14 1UE
Welcome to the Worcestershire Guild of Contemporary Craft The Worcestershire Guild of Contemporary Craft is a group of professional designer-makers that was founded in 1952. We aim to bring high quality craftsmanship to the community through regular exhibitions and offer our members support and opportunities for professional development. All our members design and make their own original work, and we are pleased to provide innovative designs in ceramics, glass, jewellery, silver, textiles, leather, metalwork, and wood, with over 50 craftspeople currently being represented. Many of our members run workshops and classes for adults and young people, and include internationally established authors, lecturers, and craftsmen. We also share ideas and work in partnership with other organisations across Worcestershire, and beyond. The work is of exceptional quality; practical, as well as decorative. We are happy to supply commissioned pieces as well as original designs. All our work is locally made, and is the perfect gift for the celebration of an event, or just to treat yourself! See more
