Ludlow and South West ShropshireWalcot Lake, a 17-acre still water pool set in beautiful scenery. The lake contains carp, tench, roach, rudd, bream, pike and perch. Walcot Lake is on the B4385 at Lydbury North, just outside Bishops Castle. Hyde's Pool, Woofferton: a popular still water spot run by the Red Lion Piscators, on the A49 south of Ludlow. Day tickets are available but there is a waiting list for new members. Three Horseshoes Inn, Wheathill: a complex of still waters north-east of Ludlow on the B4364. This is a well established site with good bank vegetation. Hurst Farm Pools: Excellent carp fishing with three well stocked pools, 30 minute drive from Ludlow, near Bridgnorth Delbury Hall, Diddlebury: an excellent local trout fishery in the Corvedale, on the B4368 east of Craven Arms. (01584 841267). Tenbury Wells (south east of Ludlow) has free stretches of the Teme within the town. Letton (on the Wye, between Leominster and Hay on the Brecon road) is a good spot for salmon fishing. Full details on 01544 327294 (daytime), or the bailiff on 01497 831665. Docklow pool complex: east of Leominster off the A44. Many day ticket pools of all species of course fish, even catfish. Details on 01568 760256. offer many opportunities for fishing in beautiful, unspoilt countryside. The River Teme and its tributaries contain an abundance of fish species, including chub, barbel, roach, trout, grayling and pike. All waters are very wild and lightly fished, and there are also plenty of local still water pools and fisheries at which day tickets can be bought. See more
