The Red Veil

Last week I had a meeting with Mr Ali of The Red Veil Indian Restaurant on Nottingham Road, just along from Putts Decorating Store.

Obviously I'd like them to feature on the site because a few people have recommended them, and their approach is a bit more modern and upmarket than most Indian restaurants in town.

Particularly of interest was their "Gourmet Evenings" every month, which consist of a 4-course meal with some drinks and various appetisers throughout the meal included. On these evenings the chefs cook dishes which are not on the normal menu, so its a great opportunity to try something new and original instead of yet another Lamb Dhansak (or is that just me).

I tried to sell Mr Ali on the idea of serving my wife's handvo as a starter - which is a delicious savoury polenta cake packed with onions and veggies and spices. It'd be great instead of samosas, and it's vegetarian... but he wasn't convinced!

I'll take him some to try next time!
