It's just been announced that the scheme to regenerate and improve Loughborough town centre has moved a step nearer to reality, and has been granted "Programme Entry" status, meaning the Government is expecting to fund the project - to the tune of £16 million.
The scheme includes a new inner relief road, pedestrianising Swan Street, Market Place, High Street and Baxter Gate, and creating high-quality bus stops. Work could start in 2 years subject to planning permissions.
