Good Pub Food

I was talking to the owner of the Curzon Arms in Woodhouse Eaves this week. I already know what a lovely pub this is, set leafily in the village with a big summer patio and garden, but I'd forgotten how much of the menu is made from scratch in the pub's own kitchen.

While many pubs are serving food delivered on trucks from Brake's or 3663, and other are making their own pies and puddings, the Curzon Arms proudly makes almost everything in-house, including things like gravy - made from meat bones, roasted and boiled, reduced, wine and seasoning added etc., in full-on restaurant fashion.

The pates are made from scratch, the chips and roast potatoes are from fresh potatoes (not from the freezer), Yorkshire puds made fresh every time, steak sauces made when you order your steak, even the ice-cream is made in the kitchen - try the whisky and ginger flavour...!!

So for great value home cooking - and by the way kids under 12 eat free all the time - the Curzon Arms should be on your list.
