Christmas Food Ideas

My recommendation for a fantastic Christmas feast this year is to take a short drive to Rothley and visit Woodcock Farm Shop and David North's Delicatessen, which are only about 5 minutes apart.

Woodcock Farm has fantastically fresh vegetables which they buy from wholesale markets and, when available, from local allotment holders - I remember buying a cabbage from here last year and actually enjoying cabbage for just about the first time ever. They also have free-range turkeys which you can order and collect on Xmas Eve, plus all kinds of game if you're into pheasant, rabbit and so on.

Alongside the centrepiece turkey and veg I'd be looking to have pies, cheeses, wine and all kinds of nibbles which I'd get from David North's. The deli is stacked with lovely food and wines from all round the world, plus pies, quiches, cakes and amazing desserts from David's son, expert patisserie chef Dominic North.

So spend an hour visiting these two places and you'll have the best Christmas day spread you've ever had, without the 3 hour supermarket nightmare!
