Well worth a visit. Lots to see, payment by donation.
Plenty of interpretation boards gives some idea of the history.

I have never been there but found that it was where my 7th Great Grandparents were married. Her name was Jane Doak Heitzelman and his name was Sir Thomas Brown. Date of marriage was 22 Nov 1689.

Lichfield cathedral is very beautiful and hosts a variety of events, with friendly staff, but accessibility is an issue as only the front entrance is suitable for wheelchair users or those with poor mobility. Additionally the toilets are located in a separate building on the other side of the street, which you have to go over a cobbled street to get to. It is lovely and worth a visit, but if you have mobility issues, this is something you should take in to consideration.

Only went once 50yrs ago. Beautiful. But...how many people know that this Cathedral was built and paid for by Roman Catholics? Stolen at the Reformation, it belongs to Catholics, as does Canterbury Cathedral and York Minister etc. All stolen property but denied. As Jesus said, Seek the truth (of history) and you will find it. Read THE STRIPPING OF THE ALTARS by Prof Eamon Duffy, and THE HISTORY OF ENGLAND THE TUDORS PART II by Peter Ackroyd. Learn of the vision Elizabeth I had weeks before she died. Finally, THE GREAT UNFROCKED 1000 YEARS CHURCH SCANDAL by Matthew Parris. Very witty and funny.
