I attended the performance of Oliver in Saturday 12th March at 2:30pm and found that when myself and my two small children went to sit in our seats they were taken by other people instead. I had not purchased my tickets from the Garrick but through Walsall operatic society direct (who despite having sent several emails to are refusing to comment) so this is not the fault of the Garrick and they did do everything humanly possible to find us all seats close together so I will commend them highly for all of their effort. The staff from WOS were not bothered about the fact they had sold me the tickets and then resold them again and promised to rectify the situation during the first half of the show but in actual fact the guy left the theatre without attempting to sort out their messes or even an a simple apology about what was obviously their mess up.

The Garrick staff and management were amazing in doing their best when sorting out other companies inadequacies. Thank you again.

We love any trip to this great little theatre. Ok so the Lady killers wasn't the best show but for the price, the fact its an amateur dramatic show and a general pleasant night out we were happy. If you want polished shows, travel into Birmingham and triple your ticket price + parking.

Fascinating Aida were their usual brilliant selves and the addition of Michael playing some of the piano accomp’s and being a generally good sport was great.

Lichfield is easier to byepass, by road or rail, than to visit, but it is worth making a small detour to this lovely old market town, dominated by its red sandstone cathedral. Begun at the end of the twelfth century it seems to echo French Gothic-style with two spires at the west end and a third (the highest) over the transept. The cathedral was repeatedly contested and severely damaged during the Civil War, the central spire was shot away, the cathedral abandoned, roofless. The restored cathedral is spectacular and the three spires (The Ladies of the Vale) are unique in England. Within the cathedral Chapter House try to see the 8th century Lichfield Angel and Lichfield Gospels as well as the Lichfield horde of gold objects found in a field outside the town. The Cathedral Close includes a coffee shop / tea garden (south east corner, toilets adjacent) and book shop (facing the West facade). Contributions to the upkeep of the cathedral are welcome but Lichfield is a welcoming cathedral which does not demand an entrance fee (others should blush).
