Visited for the Ian Anderson (Jethro Tull) concert, FABULOUS. Greeted by the Dean with a good sense of humour and then moved onto the concert where the Cathedral choristers were outstanding. The show, as expected was brilliant but the inclusion of the organ made the hairs stand up. Awesome and well worth a trip from the depths of Lincolnshire! Loyd Grossman and Marc Almond mixed the evening up and whilst I like a bit of Tull (my husband is a huge fan) if Marc Almond had done Tainted Love I would have probably popped with excitement. All in all a good evening which could have only been improved by bathroom facilities and more appropriate bar prices, ยฃ5 for a bottle of beer or a mini bottle of wine? Like I said...a good sense of humour somewhere.

The unique three spired cathedral was lit up with illuminated images from the Christmas story, and inside a beautiful scene from the Nativity, a truly festive experience!
Christmas trees from organisations and companies lined the outskirts of the nave.
Staff were dedicated and friendly people always there to help.
A beautiful gift shop with plenty of wonderful gifts to choose from.
All Covid regulations were followed by public and staff alike.
The illumination of the cathedral and outer buildings was absolutely phenomenal.
In my opinion, apart from York Minster, this is the most atmospheric and serene cathedral in England; I will definitely return! ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ™

I visited here with my mother and sister and purely by chance it was the Christmas Tree Festival. Now I have visited a few of these Tree festivals and this was by far the best! So many superbly decorated trees along the sides of the cathedral, all decorated by local businesses, schools and charities. If you wanted, you could also vote for your favourite tree. There was also an excellent Nativity scene constructed in one of the wings. The Cathedral itself was lit with candles and made for a wonderful ambience. Many thanks for all those responsible for putting this together.

The architecture, inside and out, is amazing - compares with anything in Europe. So much to see, had an exhibition of 15/16th Century maps which was also very interesting. The whole area around the Cathedral is also beautiful and very peaceful.

Visited on Sunday 24th October 2021. Parked in Parking Lichfield opposite the Minster Pool, which was convenient for the Cathedral. The walk-up The Close Road provides a stunning view framed by the houses. We walked all the way around the Cathedral before walking in and this provides opportunities to view the building in all its glory as the surrounding buildings frame the Cathedral. Once inside the cathedral is similar to other major cathedrals in structure and unfortunately, the relationship with the visual artist the cathedral has didn't result in an interesting display on our visit but check the cathedral website to see what is on when you visit though some require payment I understand. Inside there are opportunities to make a contribution using contactless payment.
