Such a majestic medieval gothic castle in a pretty market town. The cathedral dominates the surroundings and its spires can be seen from miles away.

Absolutely beautiful inside the cathedral.great architecture and stained windows.guide gave us lots of information when asked but allowed us to wander quietly when we wanted. Hoping to go during Remembrance week when there are light displays of poppies and soldiers illuminating the wonderful walls and ceilings.

Commanding a prominent location in the City this magnificent cathedral is human scale.

Superb carvings and statues

Very welcoming internally with wondrous acoustics.

A great setting around the square with the period buildings surrounding it. An architectural gem well worth the visit.

We visited Lichfield to do a spot of Christmas shopping and it was a busy Saturday so we were looking for somewhere to get a bit of respite from the crowds. We saw this imposing building from down a side street and thought we'd take a look round as we always enjoying visiting the cathedrals of new cities.
The actual front of the cathedral is stunning, architecturally with three gothic spires. Inside is just as magnificent and totally peaceful. You can't help yourself but to get lost in awe as you amble quietly around. Entrance is free but when you start to read the information on how much it costs to keep the building open just on a single day it makes you immediately want to donate to keep such a gorgeous building open and intact.
Definitely worth a visit if you are in Lichfield!
