Very nice square out the front with lovely old houses. Also has a room for kids to play which is a nice touch and allows parents to look around on their own.

Lichfield Cathedral is a great place to visit. The staff are very helpful. It's packed with history. It's wheelchair accessible. Cafes are close to the cathedral.

On our stay at Swinfen Hotel we went into Lichfield and visited the Cathedral which is free entry. Inside was beautiful with lots of history all around but it is the Stain glass windows that make this Cathedral which are stunning .

Lichfield cathedral towers over the city with its triple steeples. If you think the outside architecture is craftsmanship you will be more than impressed with the inside.
The Stained Glass windows are superb and there are plenty of interesting tombs.
The altar is a work of art as is most of the interior and these craftsmen did it by hand, you would be hard pressed to see craftsmen of this caliber today.
Take a close look at the carved figures on the outside and think how long it must have taken to achieve.
The interior is full of beautiful carvings.
Behind the Cathedral is a lovely lake and grounds and behind that the main council car park which charges £1 per hour. For sat nav users this is on Bird Street. and all this just two minutes walk away.
Admission to the Cathedral is free but worth a donation.

Also, just a few minutes walk is the city center with a good range of shops and. But take the time to explore as you will find a few hidden gems around.
