My Mother in law died earlier this month at the nursing home she was in .
I had heard good things from a few people and read the reviews .
i rang and spoke to Amy one of the daughters.
She was so helpful and within an hour rang to say that my mother in law was "in there hands."
They organised everything and kept us abreast of what was happening at all times .
yes i did ring 2 other funeral directors and i consider this family business to be excellent value and very professional
even after the funeral they rang us to say that the ashes were "in there care" and ready for collection .and yes she was my mother in law,but as i write this with a tear in my eye
im so grateful we chose them

Jonathan and daughters arranged both of my parents funerals in a relative short space of time. Nothing was too much trouble, and it was the attention to detail ie wearing shooting ties which personalised the whole experience. Giving both parents a perfect send off helped my grief. I thank Johnathon and staff. Keep up the good work.

Howell and daughters were chosen by my late mother as the funeral directors of choice.
As a family we have had no prior dealings with the company to judge performance by.
Like yourself I wanted only the very best for my loved one and as Howell and Daughters for 3 years (as of 2014) as independent directors my research into them did not reveal much to assess them with.
As per my mothers wishes Howells were entrusted with taking care of proceedings.
The phone call we all dread was made. Shortly after I was greeted at my mothers home by a smart polite gentleman Mr Jonathan Howell. Neither Jonathan or his assistant were the stereotypical somber faced clammy personnel associated with the trade. Somehow they have the balance of expression spot on and made me feel fully at ease in there presence. Initial paperwork was completed and arrangements made for a second visit to discuss our individual requirements.
My meeting with Jonathan was relaxed though remained formal. Questions were asked in such a way as to cause minimal distress and all the required information was gathered from what seemed like a general chat rather than a hard faced questioning.
The day of the funeral could not have run more smoothly.
The immaculate hearse Jonathan and his team arrived right on time.

It was obvious who was actually directing the funeral by the highly polished cane and top hat. Both items I have seen left out by other directors in the past.
Upon arrival at church I was discreetly kept informed of proceedings and what was coming next. The reason for this was I had asked if I could shoulder my mothers coffin into and out of church myself with the assistance of Jonathan's expert team of bearers.
There was an additional bearer present on standby should I have changed my mind at any point.
The whole process from that initial phone call up to saying our goodbyes on the day of the funeral was made so much easier thanks to Howell and Daughters professional team.
I would personally recommend that you entrust your loved one to Howells care and remove most of the stress from your most difficult time

Stella showed such empathy before, during and after my mom's service. She took the time to come to our house to understand the person my mom was and what she meant to her family and friends. The service was exactly what we expected and was a wonderful tribute to my mom. Stella was kind enough to print a copy of the whole service and deliver it to us after the service which is a wonderful memento for us to keep. Stella is a kind, compassionate person and I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for some one to guide them through such a difficult time

We found Stella online as we looked for a non-religious but meaningful full tribute to our late mother. Stella was professional showing empathy and taking the time to learn about our Mum, including speaking to friends and family in person and on the phone.
