Simon Topman takes us on a light-hearted and highly entertaining journey through 150+ years of local whistle making.

Simon Topman takes us on a light-hearted and highly entertaining journey through 150+ years of whistle making. You'll hear the amazing story of the invention of the world’s first Police Whistle and first Sports Whistle, the Acme Thunderer. Other whistle tales you’ll hear are of the mate’s whistles used on The Titanic, how the Clangers got their voice, how the whistle enlisted for two World Wars and fought at the front, the Lion Roar, Bird Calls, and whistles that you can’t hear but your dog can!

Bring along your old whistles for dating and valuing, you may be very surprised. The stories that go with old whistles are always intriguing and add a touch of social history.

Why not join us and learn more about our project to restore our unique Cornish Beam Engine and create a vibrant community, museum  and events space for Lichfield?
