The Show must go on at The Lichfield Garrick
8th September 2020

Social distancing and patron safety are at the forefront of the Lichfield Garrick theatre’s reopening plan, with changes being made across the building to make it COVID-secure. This includes sanitiser stations, one way systems, reduced box office hours in the socially distanced café area and pre-ordered snacks and drinks via the website. Enhanced cleaning, PPE for staff and air extraction rather than recycling will reduce the opportunities for the virus to spread. The theatre will be following government guidelines at the time of each event with regards to social distancing which may mean that some patrons will be asked to change their seat. The theatre will contact any patron affected prior to their event.

Shows from March through to October have been rescheduled from November onwards and into 2021. Fan favourites such as The Fizz, Tony Christie and Suggs are among those with new dates. Many of the rescheduled shows have tickets available, so if you missed out on tickets the first time, now is your chance to buy!

Four new shows have been added to the programme and are on sale now! Back by popular demand is brilliant magician Tom Brace, who returns this autumn with a socially distanced magic show like no other. Comedy fans will be delighted by the return of The Scottish Falsetto Sock Puppet Theatre – the world’s funniest footwear return to the Garrick studio for a hilarious double bill of performances.

TV Historian Lucy Worsley returns in April 2021 with two performances in one day to tell us all about a Very British Murder and If Walls Could Talk. Lots of exciting things to come indeed!

Our studio opens for cinema and live screenings from 18th September. Cinema screenings include Marvel’s The New Mutants and popular event cinema favourites such as Andre Rieu and Alfie Boe in concert, with opera, drama and ballet screenings to follow.

The Box Office will be reopening on reduced hours on Fridays and Saturdays, from 11am to 1pm. Fridays are exclusively for people to phone the Box Office line to book tickets. On Saturdays, the theatre doors will be open for patrons to come and book tickets in our new socially distanced Green Room café location. Takeaway coffees and snacks are available to purchase with your tickets. If you are visiting the Box Office, please wear a face covering and help us, to help you, stay safe.

Karen Foster, Chief Executive at the Lichfield Garrick, said:

The team and I are delighted to be opening the Box Office and welcoming patrons back to their much loved theatre. With new and rescheduled shows, this winter season will bring joy to the end of a very unusual year.

We would like to thank our audiences who have been so supportive and to remind everyone that the best way to support our theatre right now is to purchase tickets for future performances, join as a Friend or donate to Lichfield Garrick arts charity via our website, so we can continue to make a difference to our audiences and the many participants of our education and outreach programmes.

We Will Meet Again!

Make sure to keep an eye out on our social media and website for updates regarding new shows and films, as well as some exciting new workshops and Halloween activities, soon to be announced. For more information on show dates and how to book,  please visit www.lichfieldgarrick.com
