In August, Care UK’s Seacroft Green will open their doors to families and neighbours for a food festival, inviting guests to tuck in and celebrate the nation’s shared love of great cuisine, community and connection.

On Wednesday 7th August at 4:30 pm, visitors to Seacroft Green can look forward to sampling a selection of residents' favourite dishes including roast beef, tandoori chicken skewers, jerk pork skewers and nachos all prepared by the home’s chef using local ingredients. 

Resident, Joan, said: “I’m very much looking forward to the BBQ and summer event in the front yard, we hope the weather holds out for the afternoon!”

The event is part of the ‘A Taste of Home’ initiative, which will see all Care UK homes host foodie-themed celebrations and showcase what life in a care home is really like.

Each festival will showcase sustainable, community-focused initiatives while celebrating the diversity and creativity within the homes, from residents’ favourite recipes and traditional dishes to seasonal menus featuring locally sourced ingredients.

“We are part of a strong community here in Seacroft, and days like this are a wonderful way of bringing people together to celebrate our shared love of food, while giving residents the opportunity to share their favourite recipes and traditions with younger generations.
