The latest X-Force Group gym is set to open in Lancaster after a £2.3m investment. The new 65,000 sq ft fitness facility (formerly a Total Fitness on Caton Road) will now be called 3-1-5 Health and Fitness. It is owned by local entrepreneurs Sean Thornton and Ceri Smith and will create 24 jobs.

The acquisition of the new site see’s the collaboration of a group of dynamic entrepreneurs. Sean & Ceri; the founders of nationwide gym chain Eze Fitness, Paul Foster the previous owner of Tree Top Nurseries which had 25 outlets and Mats Thulin the former owner of the European Nautilus Health Club chain which boasted over 200 sites prior to its sale.

The new Lancaster site will be the working showcase site and new headquarters for the innovative range of X-Force strength machines in the UK.  X-Force is an established company supplying fitness machines from its base in Sweden. The X-Force equipment range has been launched to great acclaim with consumer based industry research highlighting the most amazing results from accelerated weight and fat loss to amazing strength gains. In a recent study group, conducted by Dr Ellington Darden PHD at the Gainsville club in America, a group of 43 subjects, who were involved in six-week studies, lost 1463 pounds of fat (an average weight loss of 2.4 stone per participant) and built 427 pounds of muscle.

The new gym will be the biggest in the X-Force Group’s portfolio to date and includes three pools offering hydrotherapy for up to 50, a childrens’ pool and a training pool. The new site also boats four saunas, and two steam rooms.

Sean Thornton, co-owner, says: “We’re extremely proud to be opening our largest ever gym in Lancaster. Our experienced staff will include personal trainers directly employed by X-Force Group. Personal trainers are often freelancers, however, we employ them directly so that we are able to offer better levels of customer service. It helps us to be able to match our customers and clients to the trainers they need and that best suit their personalities.”

3-1-5 Health and Fitness will also offer a corporate package linked to the Investors in People criteria, which may help local businesses seeking to achieve this prestigious accreditation.

“Corporate clients are incredibly important to us. We are extremely aware that businesses want a fit and healthy workforce and we look forward to partnering with them to achieve this.”

Sean added: “We’re looking forward  to offering the fitness enthusiasts of Lancaster the very best in fitness facilities. Myself and Ceri are very customer-focused, and we’ll be offering all our customers that personal touch that they may not have been able to find at other gyms. We really believe the 3-1-5 model is the way forward for the busy fitness enthusiast as it effectively reduces workout times by up to 40% due to its incredible efficiency.”

Ceri adds: “The name 3-1-5 Health and Fitness derives from the lifting sequence on our exclusive X-Force machines – basically 3 seconds up, 1 second holding, then 5 seconds down. These machines are top of the range technology and we’re sure they’ll be very popular with our clients. They’ll revolutionise the fitness landscape of Lancaster.”

The previous owners of 3-1-5 Health and Fitness, Total Fitness, had thousands of members but was suddenly closed without notice. The new facility opens on May 6th.
