Could your voluntary group benefit from a cash windfall?
Voluntary groups across the Lancaster district are invited to apply for funding from Lancaster City Council’s welfare grant scheme.
The city council has money available now and is asking for bids to allocate the welfare grant budget. Welfare grants are for voluntary organisations whose activities include providing recreation, meals and special events for older people.
The maximum grant to any one organisation is £500. Coun Jon Barry, Cabinet member for the voluntary sector, said: "Voluntary groups across the Lancaster district play a vital role in improving the lives of local people. “If you are a member of local voluntary group which could put a welfare grant to good use and make a difference, pick up an application form today."
Application forms, further information, and the criteria applied to the scheme are available by telephoning 01524 582074, from Morecambe and Lancaster Town Halls, and on the city council’s website: www.lancaster.gov.uk/welfaregrants.
The closing date for applications is Friday, December 7 2012.
