Chamber Announcement - Local businesses to benefit

The Lancaster District Chamber has embarked on an exciting new project which will benefit Chamber Members and businesses in the district.

The Chamber is delighted to be working with the National Apprenticeship Service and Lancaster & Morecambe College to help raise the profile of Apprenticeships in the district.  By working with local businesses we hope to spread the message that hiring an apprentice is a hugely beneficial recruitment option and by working with the head’s of our 9 local high schools we will be ensuring that pupils are fully aware of the advantages of choosing an apprenticeship as a career path.

The launch event will be held on Friday 31st January at GVS Filter Technology UK based on White Lund in Morecambe from 9.30am – 11.30am.  With just a few places remaining, it will be a high quality event.  To book your place simply reply to this email, contact the office on 01524 381331 or visit www.lancaster-chamber.org.uk

The Chamber will also be supporting the National Apprenticeship Week (7th – 11th March) and will be hosting the districts own ‘Apprenticeship Day’ on Friday 11th March.  Two key events will be the centre piece to the day’s activities and will be hosted by Member of Parliament David Morris and Eric Ollerenshaw.

Chamber President Angela Seel comments ‘Some of the most successful people in our district started as an apprentice, it gives the business a chance to mould a young individual.  A great investment for any local employer and with the grants available it is a viable recruitment method that can’t be dismissed.’

Did you know:

An apprenticeship is a way for young people and adult learners to earn while they learn in a real job, gaining a real qualification and a real future.

Hiring an apprentice helps your business to grow its own talent by developing a motivated, skilled and qualified individual.

There are 250+ types of apprenticeship available, with a range of training offerings to support these.

The process is easy, there is a broad range of able young people available, and the process is well supported locally.

There is grant available, making apprenticeships very cost effective.

An opportunity to support a young person and invest in your local community.
