Celebrating Creation Records

The music label that helped create Oasis, Primal Scream, Super Furry Animals among others will be celebrated at the next Wired In event at The Dukes in Lancaster.

The evening of celebration for Creation Records kicks off at 7pm on Wednesday, August 3.

Creation Records was a British independent record label headed by Alan McGee from 1983-1999. Among its successes were:  The Jesus & Mary Chain, Oasis, My Bloody Valentine, Primal Scream, Felt, House of Love, Teenage Fanclub, Super Furry Animals and  many more.

This free night of celebration begins with music provided by The Lovely Eggs and The Ealing Electricals who both will perform in front of projected visuals by Richard Davis of  Wired In.

At 8pm, cultural commentator, musician and author John Robb will share his thoughts on the legacy of Creation Records. His former band – The Membranes – released a record on the label back in 1985.

Then, for one night only, The Dukes Cinema will screen Upside Down(The Creation Records story) from 9pm. Tickets cost £5.50(concessions £4.50).
