I often wondered how Stephen and Amy found the energy and endurance to build Wolfwood from scratch with virtually no resources whilst bringing up a family of three children. They lived in sub-standard accomodation, until recently sharing the yard with the kennels and some of the wildlife and horses by living in second hand caravans. Frequently having their water supply frozen in the winter did not stop them and they took a mortgage on a field so that the horses could have grazing and the wildlife pens could be built.
Their determination and enthusiasm overcame all difficulties and as they gathered support from like minded people, who are all a credit to Lancaster, they were able to do more and more. The charity shop is run by volunteers wonderfully well, and other volunteers help to walk the dogs and care for the horses. stephen and Amy rarely have time off, evening taking fledging wildlife on holiday to be hand fed every couple of hours.
Definitely 5 stars.

At Wolfwood all animals are cared for to the highest possible standard.Stephen tends to any injured wildlife and helps them to be rehabilitated successfully. Amy, his wife looks after the horses, geese, ducks, and chickens. Their children will often be there giving a helping hand. To assist with the social development of puppies, the children will help by nursing, feeding and playing with them. This is a family run charity.
Stephens Mum looks after the wonderful web site and his Dad is there to help Stephen with any D.I.Y etc. Amy's Dad is the treasurer. There is a wonderful "backing group" that helps make money for the charity by running the shop and there is a team of reliable and hardy doggy-walking volunteers.
There are many people who help, giving their time freely.
What makes this such a very special charity is that everyone is working together as a team to help Wolfwood succeed.

I think that Wolfwood is a brilliant organisation to help sick, homeless and rejected animals to have a better home and better care to help them live the lives that they deserve. Carry on the great work.

I would recommend Woolfwood animal rescue centre to anyone.I have been to a few rescue centres in my time & have never met a more dedicated group of people who's sole interest is in the care of animals. We got a wonderful dog off Steven, who had already done a lot of work with her as she was an abused bitch. She is definately part of our family, only wish we could have more.

I am following Wolfwood Facebook for updates. It's heartening to know that there are so many lovely people who care about animal welfare enough to actually do something about it. They are really proactive and deserve lots of praise, funding and big Thank-you's.

I first visited the Wolfwood site after meeting a lovely Jack Russell pup and her owner on the park, and hearing all about it. Rather than coming and looking at dogs, I phoned Stephen and told him all about our family and he suggested a dog that he thought would suit us. He was right... 8 months on, she is a wonderful member of the family that we wouldn't be without.
We had introductions first and Stephen gave us ongoing advice. Kirsty, Woolfwood's behaviourist has also given advice by phone and email where neccesary... fortunately, we haven't needed a home visit but I know that Kirsty also provides that service (for a fee, obviously).
I meet many ex Wolfwood dogs on my walks around the Garstang area. Their success rate is fantastic because each placement is carefully considered.I recommend Wolfwood to anyone who is looking for a dog, even a puppy, as sadly, dogs are abandoned and mistreated at any age.

The dedicated staff at Wolfwood are just the best possible people to ensure that stray, unwanted found animals in the area are given appropriate secure warm accomodation and thorough veterinary checkups and treatment if necessary, until such a time that they can be re-homed with a loving owner.
The support that is given to potential new owners is brilliant. The website is beautiful and information is accurate and up-to-date. The contact numbers for questions and information, advice and guidance are answered as soon as possible in a sympathetic but professional manner. My Wolfwood rescue dog, Peggotty, and I are so happy and I cannot praise Wolfwood enough for the fine service they provide in the Lancaster/Morecambe area.
Interestingly the other dog-owners and dogs I meet in my local park with smiles as they excercise and with whom I have lovely conversations mostly also have had rescue dogs from Wolfwood! We are a random but extremely happy group of animal-lov

Wolfwood is a brilliant charity who care deeply about all the animals they deal with. Their policies for rehoming dogs and matching them with suitable owners is very impressive. Well done and keep up the good work.

I have never, ever met a person who is as committed, caring and devoted to animals as Stephen is. Wolfwood is a small but fast growing family run charity which relies solely on donations and the benefits of it's fantastic charity shop. I have seen at first hand how the animals are cared for and am always impressed with Stephens (and his team of helpers) dedication. Check out their website - www.wolfwood.co.uk - for further information and to make a donation (You never know, you might also find your perfect canine companion!) Good luck for the future!

We rescued our 4 year old staffie Cooper from Wolfwood on New Years's day 2012. Stephen and his colleagues provided us with the knowledge and support so that we could ensure we were able to provide our new addition with any support he needed to integrate into our family. Cooper is now a fully fledged member of our family.

The love, care and dedication given by the whole wolfwood team is 2nd to none.

So much so that am now a volunteer in the shop and with the dog walking, best thing I have ever done.

Already rehomed 3 dogs from wolfwood over the last year across my family and could easily take them all home.

Lancaster is a lucky city to have a place like wolfwood
