Smoke Alarms
Ensure you have working smoke alarms on each floor of your home and test them every week. If smoke alarm batteries need replacing do this immediately - but never remove potentially life-saving batteries to play with toys, games or presents!
Cooking
Never leave cooking unattended, or cook whilst under the influence of excess alcohol.
Electricity
Switch off and unplug electrical items at night or when leaving the house. Ensure household wiring and electrical appliances are regularly checked by a qualified person and never overload sockets.
Escape Plans
Make sure you have an escape plan that everyone in your home knows. Practice your escape plan. Children often enjoy taking part in this activity!
Elderly or Vulnerable Persons
Look out for elderly or vulnerable friends and family. Don't forget that Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service offer a FREE Home Fire Safety Check to help those most 'at risk' from fire.
