Santa’s safe sleigh ride

Wouldn’t it be an absolute disaster if the wheels were to come off Santa’s sleigh and his gift-laden vehicle was to breakdown en route to where we are staying? Well, this could be reality if you haven’t planned and prepared your car for any journey that you are going to make over the festive season. Here are some of the things that will help you to have a Happy Christmas: Check the tyre pressures ideally when the tyres are cold. The correct pressures for your car model and make will be found in the car handbook or online. Whilst you’re checking the tyres, check their tread; the absolute legal minimum depth is 1.6mm in a continuous band across ¾ of the width of the tyre and you could receive three points and a fine if you are stopped by the police. Make sure you have enough fuel for your journey as many filling stations operate on reduced opening hours over the holiday period. The windscreen washer bottle should have enough water in it and it’s advisable to use a screen wash that will prevent the fluid from freezing at low temperatures.
