Places of Interest for Walkers in the Wyre Forest

Burlish Top in Stourport on Severn is a peaceful rural nature reserve over 35 hectares. It is located on the South Kidderminster, North Stourport-on-Severn boundaries. It is a large area of lowland heath, much beloved of nightingales and siskins. The concrete paths make the reserve easily accessible for the disabled and for pushchairs. The site has a way marked Easy Going Trail and viewing platform.

This Sunday the nature reserve will launch its new fitness trail. If you want to get outdoors and get fit then go along to the official opening on Sunday 11th September. The walk is one and half kilometres long and is suitable for all ages and abilities - and for runners and walkers.

There are four parts to the trail and there is advice on how to tackle each stage and advice on stretches at stations around the route.

The trail is officially opening on Sunday 11th September where there will be three free 30 minute taster sessions. You can meet at the car park at Burish Top or park for free at Stourport Sports Club where there will be free shuttle buses to the train. They start at 11.15am, 12.10am and 2.30pm.  The sessions are being led by a qualified fitness coach and will include an outdoor cardiovascular workout around the fitness trail with circuit training exercises and a cool down.

If you would prefer a gentler workout then you will be able to enjoy a free guided walk, led by  Wyre Forest District Council Rangers.
