New paternity laws coming into force on April 3rd may have dramatic effects for local Wyre Forest based businesses. Changes to the law will now mean that fathers of children that are due on or after April 3rd 2011 will now be entitled to up to six months in paternity leave in addition to the previous two week allowance.
Local Kidderminster based solicitors have warned of long term human resource issues arising from the imminent change of law if it is not understood and implemented correctly.
As with all new laws it will inevitably take time for this change to bed in with companies based in Kidderminster, Stourport, Bewdley and the surrounding areas having to understand the new legislation.
With the current entitlement of maternity leave standing at a maximum of 52 weeks there may well be larger hurdles to overcome for businesses that employ both mother and father of expected children.
