KAF (Kidderminster Arts Festival) celebrates its 10th year with its largest and most diverse programme yet. Running from the 10th until the 26th of August with a huge variety of street theatre, indoor family shows, music, installations, exhibitions, puppet shows, workshops and more, you can’t fail to be entertained this August.

Tickets range from free to £5.00, you can find our programme and booking information on www.wyreforestdc.gov.uk/KAF The festival has been supported by Brintons Carpets this year, by donating hundreds of metres of carpet we have commissioned artists Jo and Kate DeBurgh to transform the town hall into a Carpet Forest. The environment will be truly magical, come and explore the forest, listen to the specially created soundtrack created by Andy Edwards and relax as the light floods through the canopy. The trees will also tell you tales from the carpet factories through an intimate soundtrack created by Heather Wastie.

Kidderminster Town Hall will not only become a sensory playground but also a place bustling with workshops and fantastic family shows throughout the two week event.

Don’t miss Fireside Tales with Granddad on the 17th of August at 12.30. Cuddle up around the campfire as Granddad recalls a daring escape from a hungry shark. Tuck into a marshmallow or two as he attempts to make a new set of underpants for a giant. And watch as the shadows between the trees unravel a tale of greedy goblins, grumpy trolls, sneaky princes and a very unusual princess. Exquisite puppets, captivating storytelling, beautiful shadow puppetry combine to create an enchanting show guaranteed to spark the imagination of everyone from 4-104. Tickets are £5.00 each or £18.00 for a family ticket for 4 people.

As you arrive you won’t be able to miss a 30 foot long Pig who will be basking in the square outside the Town Hall, which will have also undergone something of a transformation. On the 24th will be another amazing family show. In a tent inside the Town Hall you’ll find Landscapes, a show like you’ve never seen before, using beautiful puppets, digital projections, original lighting effects and soundscapes, this award winning magical show with no words is an exploration of the natural world. Mimika theatre will take you on a journey through the desert, under the sea through the rainforest and to the ant-arctic where you will meet meerkats, monkeys, scorpions & squid, crocodiles, butterflies and a kaleidoscope of fish. Shows are at 10.30-11.30, 12.00-13.00, 13.30-14.30, 15.00-16.00 and tickets are £4 or £15 for a family ticket.

These are just a couple of the fantastic shows visiting KAF, there are many more. Places are limited so we strongly advise you to book your tickets in advance.

There are street shows and buskers throughout the festival particular on market days. There are workshops in animation, drumming, guitar and D.J’ing, musical theatre, acting, knitting, painting and poetry, for both children and adults. There’s even a mini Kids Fest on St. Georges Park on the 10th of August helping us with our massive opening weekend, lots of shows, face painting and activities with children at the heart. Travel up through Worcester Street and you’ll find a street party with live graffiti, D.J’s bands and more which will run all day on Saturday the 10th and carry on into the evening.

We will be circulating brochures for the festival but you will find more information in the online version as there’s so much happening we can’t fit it all into our print! We look forward to seeing you at KAF13.
