Its great that the Wyre Forest District Council is encouraging us to keep business LOCAL this Christmas and New Year by offering Free Car Parking. In previous years the Council offered free parking after 4pm but this year in some selected car parks parking will free ALL DAY on Saturdays an Tuesdays. The car parks are in  Bromsgrove Street, Kidderminster, Dog Lane, Bewdley and the car park at the rear of the Civic Centre (off Martin’s Way) Stourport-on-Severn.

Free parking will run from the Kidderminster Lights Switch on on the 17th November, all the way through to Sunday 13th January 2013. So we can all make the most of those January and New Sales, as well as being able to enjoy a coffee or a bite to eat in the local cafes and restaurants.

Councillor Marcus Hart, Wyre Forest District Council Cabinet Member for Environmental Services said “The Council wants to support our town centre traders by allowing free car parking in each of the towns on the busiest shopping day, a Saturday, but also to encourage people to come into the town on what might otherwise be a quieter day of the week, a Tuesday. We have selected a car park in each of the towns which offers the best access to each of the town centres.” In another boost for retailers the Council is also organising a series of events and entertainment in the three towns to coincide with the free car parking including organising the Christmas lights switch on in Kidderminster in November. Councillor Helen Dyke, Member Champion for Town Centres said “We want to make a real difference this year to the shopping experience we can offer in the three towns. We’ve got some exciting new Christmas lights for Kidderminster and by putting on events across the three towns coupled with free parking, we aim to make Wyre Forest the place of choice for people to come and do their Christmas and New Year shopping this year.”

Lets support our local towns this Christmas - lets shop, eat and drink in Kidderminster, Stourport and Bewdley.
