Italy comes to Stourport

An Italian cabaret came to the Stourport Civic Hall on Friday 30th March 2012 at 7.30pm, followed by a food market in the Civic Centre car park on Saturday 31st March from 9am until 16.00, which is being organised by the Civic group, with support from Stourport Forward, Stourport Town Centre Forum and Wyre Forest District Council.

On Friday, a group of local singers performed a night of Italian themed cabaret, including Jonathan Darby and Claire Darby of the Stourport Choral and Operatic Society and Julian Richards, fresh from his recent performance in Calamity Jane. It featured traditional Italian opera and modern Italian-inspired numbers from the likes of the Rat Pack.

The food market on Saturday composed of 18 stalls selling the tastes of Italy such as parmigiano-reggiano, prosciutto, salami, olives, extra virgin olive oils and more. There was an Italian travel advice surgery from Midcounties Co-operative Travel and a prize for the best dressed shop window, organised by Stourport Town Centre Forum.
