BDK, Jersey Chartered Architects have been nationally recognised for Sustainable Development.

Press Release - BDK Architects have achieved UK wide recognition for high standard of their eco-friendly and environmental best practice work, being inducted as a 2014 Green World Ambassador at the House of Commons on 11 November 2013. BDK Architects Green Apple Award-winning paper will be published in the next Green Book, the international work of reference on environmental best practice.

November is ‘Mo’month. Jersey gents, are you growing a Moustache?

As a long time (30 years+) wearer of a moustache I am pleased to see that they are making a bit of a comeback, especially as gents are being encouraged to grow them for charity! November is ‘Mo’ month raising funds and awareness of prostate cancer. How many Jersey men can grow a decent moustache in a month?

In 2013 Remembrance Day falls on Sunday 10th November and in the weeks leading up to that date we will all have the opportunity to support the Poppy Appeal, this is an incredibly worth while appeal and the people of Jersey always donate generously. Let’s see if we can make 2013 a record!

Halloween Events in Jersey

2013 is flying by and with summer now a distant memory we have Halloween to look forward to. I have already identified some good events being held in Jersey where proceeds are going to local charities but please let me know if you know of any others that should be added to our Events page.

Please help Rebecca to raise funds for ‘Unite 2 Fight Paralysis’

Rebecca Baudains was partially paralysed following a horse riding accident in 1995 during a polo match and has since been confined to a wheel chair. This year she is one of a five person team taking part in the Jersey Marathon and Rebecca is raising funds for Unite 2 Fight Paralysis, please support her and donate generously.

Wonderful opportunity for young children to learn more about the animals at Durrell

Do you have any children in the 3 to 6 age range in your family? Are they interested in animals? Would you like them to get an insight into the conservation work carried on a Durrell? If then the series of ‘Dodoling’ sessions being organised by Durrell this Autumn will be of interest.

Times still appear to be difficult for Jersey restaurants

I was sorry to learn that North Point Bistro in St.Ouen has recently ceased trading and the restaurant is now closed. They join an increasing list of Jersey restaurants that have closed in recent years. So for the many restaurants that remain what are the necessary ingredients to continue successfully?
