First sight of a bit of blue sky today, nice to see as it seems to have been constantly raining for weeks. Non-stop wind and rain is not only depressing at a personal level it can also harm your property. Now is a good time to give it a good once over.

While we are yet to experience any really cold weather this winter I am sure the initial reaction of most people to a cold snap will be to reach for that thermostat and turn it up. Don't! Why not try turning it down instead? Even a couple of degrees can help you make substantial savings and if you're cold at night put an extra blanket on your bed.

There are two major Panto productions to choose from in Jersey over the Festive season this year. The Jersey Green Room Club presents Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs at the Opera House and the Jersey Amateur Dramatic Club (celebrating its 75th year in 2014) presents the classic family pantomime ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ at the Arts Centre.

Many people prefer to avoid the work involved in preparing Christmas lunch and local restaurants are only too happy to accommodate them. As always some offerings will be better than others and I am interested to find out if there are any good deals around.

What an achievement, this business has survived the 1st World War, the Depression of the 1930’s, the German Occupation, the decline in the Jersey tourism industry and the recent recession which has seen many local business go under. Well done to Colin and Andrew Letto all their team.
