Heathrow Expansion Plans
17th July 2013
... Comments

Heathrow have today published the proposals for expansion in readiness for submission to the Airport's Commission.

The submission follows a rigorous assessment of a wide range of options. It is a new approach to increasing capacity at Heathrow. It balances the country's need for international connections to emerging markets with the impact on local communities.

There are many arguments for and against Heathrow expansion and it is another two years before the government will make a decision.

Our mayor only this week said he was in favour of a new airport hub to the east of London with Heathrow being closed and turned into basically a new town.

For many of us who have grown up in the Hounslow Borough area, airport noise has been a factor for decades and the expansion of the airport will cause wider noise pollution and have an impact on more people around Heathrow.

Economically, Heathrow is a major player in the number of people in the Borough either employed directly, employed in the many service industries reliant on Heathrow and the other businesses that benefit from the influx of workers to the area.

To read all about the expansion plans Heathrow have put together an extensive proposal that can be seen on their website click here to link to the proposal.
