Farmers Markets in Hounslow Borough

The Farmers Market in Chiswick is a well-established local market in West London that is open every Sunday from 10am till 2.00pm and this has recently been joined by Brentford Market that has started running every Sunday at the same time.

Having travelled past the old Brentford Market on my way to school in the late sixties I grew up with fruit and veg sellers loading and unloading along the stretch of the Chiswick High Road from Lionel Road South in Brentford up to Chiswick roundabout.

It is great to see these local markets offering artisan foods on a regular basis in Hounslow Borough and a great alternative from the supermarkets for a regular shop.

There are also plans to regenerate Hounslow High Street and one of the key elements will be a larger street market area that will create an atmosphere where local people will want to travel into the high street to shop.

The explosion over the last few years of the 'street food' culture has added to these traditional farmers markets and the multi-cultural nature of West London makes this area perfectly suited for street food vendors to offer a wide variety of foods from around the world.

If you live in the Borough please get out and support these local markets on a Sunday morning, a great way to start the day!
