Almost everyone at some point in their lives has been touched by cancer, it's an awful reality but one that cancer research is striving to conquer.

The Race for Life team and Sunshine Radio were out today at the Old Market, building awareness for this years Race for Life.

They were painting the town pink and asking shops to get involved in getting the word out. They had their pink war stripes on their face, championing this years slogan 'Hell hath no fury like a woman in pink'.

You can walk, run, skip, or strut this all female event, taking place at hereford racecourse on the 14th June. This year they are hoping to beat last years total and raise over £80,000.

Also Cancer Research UK on Widemarsh Street are selling Race for Life t-shirts.

Here is more information about where your money goes;

£8 kits out our scientists with a lab timer, helping them to find out what makes a cancer cell tick.
£20 buys a lab coat, box of gloves and goggles. Not only geek chic, but vital items to help our scientists carry out life-saving research.
£70 pays for a Bunsen burner to help ignite groundbreaking research on a daily basis.
£180 pays for one day of a trial to discover faster diagnosis and new therapies to treat brain cancer.
£300 buys a hotplate to warm special solutions, turning up the temperature on groundbreaking research.
£450 pays for one day of a trial to diagnose prostate cancer earlier and more efficiently.
