The pioneering Flicks in the Sticks project uses the latest in digital technology to take films to local venues throughout Shropshire and Herefordshire. By working with local promoters, using existing venues and using low cost technology, Flicks in the Sticks is able to bring BIG screen films, classics and blockbusters, to those who live in rural areas and do not normally get the opportunity to see such films. With the rising costs of fuel and the onset of the dark evenings not everyone wants to travel miles to seek out some entertainment. With Flicks it's there right on your doorstep!
Ian Kerry Director of Flicks in the Sticks says "At a time when we have received a cut in funding for our service we need to look for cheaper ways to let people know about screenings in communities throughout our area. Our email alert service is fantastic - it is free, to use and to operate, is totally automatic, so doesn't require peoples time to send out, and saves a fortune on postage - all this whilst cutting down on paper consumption! We also want to encourage new audiences who may not have tried Flicks before - screenings are nothing like you would see in a multiplex - friendly local atmosphere, cups of tea in the interval, and modest ticket prices. This is your chance to have a taste of Flicks. We also welcome any feedback from newcomers to improve the service. "
