We have just heard that the Charity Auction for the RDA,which was featured here on The Best of Hereford, was a great success.

The charity auction held at Ledbury Rugby Club has been heralded as a great success by its host, Countrywide.  The auction raised over £2,500 for Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA), and featured over 170 equestrian-themed lots.
In addition to donations from the public, Countrywide and its suppliers generously donated new items such as water troughs, rugs, clothing and tack, show jumping tickets and riding lessons.

Alistair Folly, Agriculture Director at Countrywide said:  “The auction went extremely well and we raised over £2,500 for the RDA, our target was to raise £1,000 so we are delighted to have raised even more money for such a worthwhile cause whilst having a fun evening. Everyone enjoyed it and there were some great bargains too.

"The most unusual lot was a chauffeur driven trip in our flagship lorry, the Spirit of Countrywide.  The most popular items were, believe it or not, the Horse Tasty Treats, donated by Wessex Feeds, and cider donated by UBL and Westons.

Our thanks go to Pughs for their first class support for the event." Alistair continued.

The RDA is Countrywide's charity of the year for 2009. Countrywide are holding a series of fundraising events to raise money and awareness of the work carried out by the RDA.

The RDA is dedicated to improving the lives of people with disabilities through the provision of horse riding and carriage driving.

Ed Bracher, Chief Executive of RDA said:  “We were thrilled to received such a large donation from the Ledbury Auction event and would like to thank both Countrywide for organizing the event, Pughs Auctioneers and Ledbury RFC for hosting the event and most importantly, the public for their support in donating and bidding on the lots. Events such as this auction enable us to extend our services to even more people with disabilities, who can gain therapy, achievement and enjoyment through horse riding."

This is great news and we love featuring good news that is happening in the County - so if you want to spread the word about your charity events - then just let us know.
