Yesterday, Brenda and I were invited to a delightful lunch at The Royal National College for the Blind. We had been invited along with about 60 other business people to be introduced to the £23.5 million building project that is transforming the old college site into something amazing, not just for the learners at the college but for Hereford, Herefordshire and the United Kingdom.

The £23.5 million building project is the most ambitious and exciting development in RNC's 136 year history. The aim is to significantly enhance and expand facilities for living and learning on campus, and help learners make the most of their time at the college.

The new facilities at the college include an accommodation village, Gardner Assessment Centre, including hotel, Sports and Complementary Therapy Centre and a Centre for Performing and Creative Arts.

These facilities, along with a wide variety of conference facilities, restaurants, bars and sports facilities will all be available for use by the business community and the residents of Hereford.

Another piece of very exciting new is that The Royal National College for the Blind will be home to British Blind Football. The college has been a key player in opening up the national game to people with sight loss and in helping put blind and partially sighted football on the British sporting map. They not only coach football to their learners, but are also proud home to the National Squad.

RNC has been selected to host the World Blind Football Championships in 2010 and the College is feature in the Pre-Games Paralympic Training Camp Guide for 2012

The RNC's Football Academy is looking for the next Wayne Rooney of the blind football world - so if that is you visit www.rncb.ad.uk/football RNC Football Academy has its sight set on the 2012 London Paralympics.

We were all introduced to the new facilities before they are finished in order that we could bear RNC in mind if we were looking for Conference or meeting room facilities throughout 2009 - so if you are looking for excellent facilities if is definitely worth viewing the new facilities at RNC.
