The inaugural Grantham Festival will take place on the weekend of the 2nd and 3rd of April 2011.  A day of family fun will take place on Saturday with a range of activities for all the family.  A variety of worshops including Parkour, MAD Bikes and street dance groups, a host of street entertainment, pavement drawing and street art will be interspersed with music, fashion and art.
With major plans to expand the festival in future years to encompass sport,
culture, art and music it is anticipated that the Grantham Festival will become a major draw to the town.   Run in conjunction with the successful Belton International Horse Trials, it is hoped that many of the 10,000 strong crowd will take time to explore Grantham and partake in activities over the weekend.
A key part of the weekend will be Family Day at the Horse trials with Jez Avery and his Honda stunt team, 100 Trade stalls, Pony Club Games, the Grantham 10km trail run, plus the worlds top riders competing over Mark Phillips cross country course.
This year the Grantham Journal Business Awards will take place during the week prior to the festival, this will add to the celebration.
A major theme running through the event in 2011 will be ‘Did you know…?’ focusing on all the things about Grantham that many people do not know:
Home of the Dam Busters Control Room
Home of Isaac Newton
Home to the countries first woman police officer
  • Isaacs Newton
  • Home to the countries first woman Prime Minister
  • Home to the invention of Caterpillar Tracks
  • and much much more.
This is a great opportunity to support our local town and celebrate what is great about Grantham
