‘Twinned in Tartan’ has been specially designed to celebrate the positive impact Scotland fans, known as the Tartan Army, left on Boston during the FIFA World Cup, and the official twinning of the two cities.

Designed by Buchanan Galleries and Glasgow-based tartan specialists, Slanj, ‘Twinned in Tartan’ weaves together colours inspired by the flags of Glasgow and Boston, alongside the iconic Green Monster of Fenway Park in recognition of Boston’s rich sporting heritage. The result is a striking new tartan that symbolises the friendship and creates a lasting legacy ahead of the new partnership. 

For the first time, on Thursday 29th and Friday 30th October, visitors to Buchanan Galleries will have the chance to see the new 'Twinned in Tartan’ on display and be able to purchase and take home a lasting memento to mark the historic twinning of Glasgow and Boston.

During the two-day pop up, guests will have the opportunity to browse and purchase a range of products and accessories in the new ‘Twinned in Tartan’, including traditional kilts, shawls, t-shirts, ties and cushions. A selection of dog accessories featuring the tartan will also be available. 

The pop-up will be situated in the main atrium at Buchanan Galleries, located in front of the flower wall from 9:30am until 4:30pm on Thursday 29th and Friday 30th October.

As part of the launch, YMCA Scotland has been announced as the official charity partner for ‘Twinned in Tartan’. In support of the partnership, 20% of all proceeds from sales of the tartan and its associated products will be donated to help fund their new Tartan Exchange programme.

The programme aims to strengthen the growing links between Glasgow and Boston by creating opportunities for young people in both cities to connect, share experiences and discover each other’s culture. YMCA Scotland has been working with global YMCA network to develop the first phase of the project, to be announced later this year.
