The operation will run over the holidays and will see police officers carrying out extra patrols in town centres, including Epsom.
They will also be visiting licensed premises to ensure they are not serving to underage drinkers or to those who are already drunk.
They want people to enjoy the celebrations without fear of intimidation or violence.
Their approach will be ‘robust’ and offenders could risk arrest and a night in the cells, together with being banned from pubs, bars and clubs, and facing a criminal record.
The police are asking licensed premises to behave responsibly and support their effort.
