A campaign is gathering pace to get Epsom signposted from the M25.
Destinations such as Leatherhead and Dorking are sign-posted from the motorway, but Epsom is not.
Chris Grayling MP is lobbying roads minister Mike Penning for a change and the council has also made representations to Mr Penning.
Their efforts are being backed by Rupert Trevelyan, managing director of Epsom Downs Racecourse.
The Minister for Employment said: "It seems a nonsense that a place like Epsom isn’t seen as an important destination from the M25, particularly when so many people come to both the Derby and other major events locally.
"I hope my colleagues will take the opportunity of updating the signs as soon as practical to ensure that Epsom is included."
