With festival season officially under way, a care home in Enfield is welcoming the community for a fun-filled day of food and celebration.

On 7th August from 3pm-5pm, Care UK’s Elizabeth Lodge will open its doors to families and neighbours for a food festival, inviting guests to tuck in and celebrate the nation’s shared love of great cuisine, community and connection.

Visitors to the Pennington Drivehome can look forward to a food festival celebrating the flavours and traditions that make dining so special there, with food stalls including favourite dishes from cuisines such as Italian, Greek, Polish, Irish, Indian, Caribbean, English and French, from residents, relatives and team members.

Guests can also enjoy live entertainment including a sing-along during a fun-filled Cockney Karaoke, Bollywood dance performance, and soak up the lively rhythms of the Reggae Festival.

Resident Vivianne Campbell, 86,said: “I am looking forward to the event and to be able to share my family’s homemade French dressing recipe. It is a simple yet delicious accompaniment that has been enjoyed by my family for years!”

The event is part of the ‘A Taste of Home’ initiative, which willseeCare UK homes across the countryhost foodie-themed celebrations and showcase what life in a care home is really like.

Each festival will showcase sustainable, community-focused initiatives while celebrating the diversity and creativity within the homes, from residents’ favourite recipes and traditional dishes to seasonal menus featuring locally sourced ingredients.

Michelle Sampang, Home Manager at Elizabeth Lodge, said: “We’re delighted to be welcoming the local community to our very own food festival!

“We are part of a strong community here in Enfield, and days like this are a wonderful way of bringing people together to celebrate our shared love of food, while giving residents the opportunity to share their favourite recipes and traditions with younger generations.

“The day not only promises a lot of laughter, but it is also an excellent way for residents to meet and mingle with lots of new faces – and some familiar ones. We can’t wait to welcome everyone through the doors.”
