The Citizens Commission on Human Rights (CCHR) is a watchdog over the mental health field. There are over 280 CCHR groups in 31 countries, staffed and supported by passionate people with a commitment to protecting the rights of individuals who have been victimised and harmed in the field of mental health.

In the UK, CCHR campaigns to abolish invasive and harmful psychiatric practices like electroshock, abusive restraint procedures, psychosurgery, mental health screening and the use of mind-altering drugs which can worsen people’s personalities and behaviour.

CCHR UK is a non-profit organisation dedicated to educating people about mental health abuse, to influencing decision-making in the direction of more natural and workable ways to deal with mental health problems, whilst campaigning tirelessly for the preservation of the rights of all individuals.

It was co-founded in 1969 by members of the Church of Scientology and Professor of Psychiatry Emeritus, Dr Thomas Szasz.
