On Monday 9th November, from 2pm–4pm, local people are invited to attendCare UK’s Mill View’s cinema club, on Sunnyside Close. 

During the sessions, which take place on the second Monday of every month, attendees will be shown a variety of classic ‘feel-good’ films in the comfort of the care home’s cinema, a safe, social and supportive environment. The initiative is designedto encourage those living alone who may be feeling isolated to come together to rewatch their favourite films and connect with others.  

Family carers will also have the opportunity to meet others in a similar position, share experiences with one another and benefit from the expertise of the Mill View team.Visitors canenjoy refreshments during the film, as well as coffee and cake in the home’s café afterwards.

Watching older films, has a multitude of benefits. Our cinema helps to combat loneliness and enables people who may not be able to get to the cinema enjoy a good film in a comfortable setting.The cinema helps people engage comfortably with others by telling stories and sharing thoughts. These sessions can also enable those caring for a loved one to meet others in a similar position, to show them they are not alone, and to allow them a space where they can share their experiences and feel supported too.
