Hanwell Carnival - the countdown has begun

We have a great show lined up this year. Of course all the old favourites are back - the music and community stages, dog show, animal zone, charity and trade stalls. But we have lots of new elements too.

This year, the acoustic tent becomes Alice’s Acoustic Tent in memory of the 14-year- old Hanwell schoolgirl Alice Gross, who was tragically murdered last year.

The tent will feature performances from both people who knew her and those who want to perform in her memory.

Our procession’s theme is Historic Hanwell – you'll be amazed at the things that have happened here and the people who’ve lived or were born here. The history buffs out there can find more information at our new history tent, run by David Blackwell of the Hanwell Heritage and Local History Society.

Also new is the Hanwell Carnival Bake Off. With not a soggy bottom in sight (we hope) and in conjunction with the Hanwell Womens’ Institute, we are launching a competition to find the star bakers of Hanwell.

For Hanwell Carnival newbies, here are the main details:

Where: Elthorne Park, Boston Road, W7

Time: 12pm-6pm. The procession kicks off from Hanwell Community Centre in Westcott Crescent at 11am.

Fee: Entrance to the park is free

All that remains to be said is - keep your fingers crossed for a sunny day!
