The Cost of Smoking

Recently released figures have shown a slight change in trends.

Traditionally, an average smoker would smoke twenty a day. At current costs - average £9.60 a pack, the habit would cost average £3500 a year, or £190,000 over 54 years (from age 16 - 70).

However, the average smoker now has only eleven cigarettes a day. At current costs, this means £5.28 a day, £1927 a year, and nearly £108,000 over 54 years.

These figures are a deterrent in themselves, but when you think of the cost to health and wellbeing it should be blindingly obvious that it makes sense to stop.
