 Stoptober runs every year as an encouragement for people to think about stopping smoking for good. The premise is that if you can stop for 28 days then you are five times more likely to be able to stop forever.

 Whilst it is true that 28 days away from nicotine will stand you in good stead to stop forever - a sucessful stop smoking program will look at busting cravings, tackling triggers, and times of day that you are used to smoking, and changing that part of the personality that needs and wants to smoke  - in effect, creating a new you.
