Diabetes and Obesity – should you be worried?

 Dr Matthew Capehorn, clinical director of the National Obesity Forum, is quoted in the Independent On Sunday as suggesting that too many people do not understand the links between these two conditions.

 “If you are overweight or obese, you are at increased risk of developing type 2 diabetes” he says , ”the visceral fat we collect in and around our tummies increases insulin resistance which may lead to diabetes”

 Diabetes is a lifelong condition, which can be treated, but if left untreated can lead to atheroma, leading to angina, heart attacks, stroke, kidney damage and blindness.

 Heavy stuff, and Diabetes UK say that 2.5million people in England already have it. Weight Control has supreme importance in our society. Some people may find that increasing their exercise patterns may improve this, others may find that the group support of a slimming club works for them. But if you are having problems, then hypnotherapy may be the right thing for you.
