Local businessman Peter Kemsley was moved to tears at 4N networking meetings in Ealing recently as he told the story of his friend Joe. An old business associate and friend of Peter’s, Joe La Vacca was interviewed on ABC news following the devastation caused by Superstorm Sandy to his recently renovated family home in Staten Island, New York. The loss of life (his neighbour and his neighbour’s son were killed), the level of destruction and the suffering of their local community led Peter to take action and fast. In response to the devastation and with the help of like-minded humanitarian business associates in West London, Peter formed JoesMo - a not for profit organisation raising funds for those in need and harnessing the power of local business networking and social media to get the right things (so far including trousers and black sacks) to those who need it quickly. Nearly half of New York City's deaths from superstorm Sandy happened on Staten Island. The world’s media may have moved on but the problems for those affected will continue for months to come. If you watched the news and wished you could help take a look and donate online at http://joesmo.org/ and follow on Twitter: @JoesMoFund.
