With just days to go until Hanwell Carnival on Saturday 15th June, there is some exiting news of a new addition to the line-up this year as QPR are creating a football zone in Elthorne Park. The QPR in the Community Trust will provide a range of activities for all ages including small-sided matches, various skills challenges, a prize draw and the chance to meet Rangers' much-loved mascots Jude and Spark – who will be travelling in the procession in the company of our own Big Eddy mascot from thebestofEaling. Trust chief executive officer Andy Evans said: "We hope this is the beginning of a long-term relationship with Hanwell Carniva and the first opportunity for QPR in the Community Trust to engage directly with the residents of Hanwell and Ealing. We know this area to traditionally be the home of many QPR fans." Other sports will be represented at the carnival too as The West London Ball Hockey Club will host the first annual West London Cup at the carnival. The West London Cup will feature four to five local teams in the under-12 and under-15 categories who regularly play out of Elthorne Sports Centre on a Saturday morning. If you are interested in having a go yourself, the club will run a try-out session at 4pm. Tennis, climbing and trampolining are among the other sports which will also be on offer. The carnival procession will assemble at Hanwell Community Centre in Westcott Crescent at 10am and leave just after 11am. The procession will finish at Elthorne Park, Boston Road, and the party will continue there from 12pm until 6pm. Entry to the park is free.
