After months on the road and a string of well-attended performances across the country, the London date marks the final stop of a long-awaited return to live stand-up.
This is Nichol’s first tour in seven years, following a period in which he focused more heavily on acting. Most notably, he took on a leading role in Spiegelworld’s The Hook in Atlantic City, alongside a range of television and stage appearances. Trying My Best signals a shift back to his roots, bringing together material that reflects his extensive career in comedy.
Trying My Best blends stand-up with music and improvisation. Audiences can expect a mix of his classic comedic songs like Only Gay Eskimo, alongisde observational humour, stories drawn from his life and experiences, and his perspective as a Canadian living and working in the UK.
Nichol began his career in the late 1980s with musical comedy group Corky and the Juice Pigs and has since built an international reputation, performing in dozens of countries and regularly appearing at the Edinburgh Festival. His work spans stage and screen, with credits across British television and West End theatre, alongside an Edinburgh Comedy Award win.
As the final date of the tour, the London performance offers audiences an opportunity to catch Trying My Best in its current form. Tickets are available through the Backyard Comedy Club website here.
