CHEPSTOW Library was officially reopened last week after a £120,000 refurbishment.

Cllr Brian Hood opened the library at a ceremony on February 29.

The refurbished library offers customers improved internet access, with free wifi and laptops available for use within the library.

There is also an extensive range of books, DVDs and audio books.

Other features include an updated children’s area, an area designed for teenagers and a quieter area for family and local history research.

The library has a range of weekly activities including basic IT sessions, storytime for under fives, baby rhyme times and family history research sessions.

Work on the library’s reading garden will continue ready for a launch on April 23 to coincide with World Book Night.

Cllr Hood said: “Monmouthshire is proud of its library provision and at a time when closures are in the news it is heartening to see that we are actually enhancing services.

“Libraries are not just about books – there is something for all ages here .”

Cabinet member for culture, Cllr Giles Howard added: ““I would like to thank the residents of Chepstow for creating and maintaining the need for the library.
